Dear Residents,

We want to make you aware that once again this year, individuals posing as solicitors—or possibly even legitimate representatives—are going door-to-door encouraging tenants to make disrepair claims against Manchester City Council (your landlord) or SHOUT TMO (the managing organisation).

Please be extremely cautious.

These individuals may attempt to gain access to your home under the guise of helping with repair issues, such as damp or mould. Once inside, they may take photographs and pressure you into signing a consent or agreement form. They often promise large compensation payments as an incentive.

Please be aware: these are scam tactics. DO NOT LET THEM INTO YOUR HOME.

If you do allow them in, there may be serious consequences.
They may sign you into a binding legal contract—often under a “No Win, No Fee” basis—meaning you could be financially liable even if you later change your mind. Once a claim is submitted, the legal team at Manchester City Council becomes involved, and SHOUT is legally obligated to provide all relevant documentation and records.

At SHOUT, we are committed to dealing with all housing and repair concerns promptly and professionally. Since September 2023, when the current manager took over, not a single claim has been successful against SHOUT. In fact, some previous claims have been withdrawn by the tenants themselves after realising they were misled.

Important: Once a claim is submitted, SHOUT is legally restricted from handling non-emergency repairs while legal proceedings are ongoing. Only urgent issues such as leaks, heating failures, or electrical faults can be addressed.

We strongly encourage you to contact us directly with any concerns or repair needs. We are proactive and available to support you through multiple channels:

  • 24/7 reporting by phone ( 01612026482)

  • Office access (Monday to Friday) (50, Kilnside Drive, Manchester, M95QP)

  • WhatsApp communication  (+447447008152)

DON’T FALL FOR SCAMS — TALK TO SHOUT FIRST. LET’S STAND TOGETHER AGAINST FRAUD.

Please also refer to the official government guidelines  (https://www.gov.uk/doorstep-selling-regulations) regarding doorstep marketing. Help us keep scammers away from your homes, your community, and your estate.
